A Year of Books + Films

When I turned 19, I decided to record every book I read and film I watched for a year. The whole project made me more mindful of the media I consume every day + what interests me. I discovered a lot more about myself in the process, than I thought I would.

And The Oscar Goes To...

Oscar Season is exciting... catching up on the year's greatest movies, film-themed parties, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres and critiquing celebs' outfits. In honour of this very special occasion, etched in tin brings to you a roundup of the best of The Oscars 2011.

As always, Sandra Bullock looked fantastic! Want hair like hers? The Gloss shows you how.

Helena Bonham Carter... gorgeous, creative, flawless, etc. Admire her fashion sense? Absolutely.

If you haven't seen all of the nominated films yet, it's not too late! Get thee to a Blockbuster or Netflix, make some awesome snacks and enjoy.

Which of Anne Hathaway's dresses did you like best?

Genderbending is becoming mainstream... I love it! Check out the hosts, Anne Hathaway and James Franco's outfits.

I'm such a fan of Reese Witherspoon's look: very 1960s Barbie, in the best way possible.

And the Oscar goes to.... A list of all the winners.

How did you celebrate Oscar night?

Buried

By now, it's a well-known fact that I love Ryan Reynolds. But Buried (2010) has cemented my respect and adoration.

Buried is a thriller by Rodrigo Cortés. It centers around Paul, an American truck driver who is deployed to Iraq. Paul's convoy is attacked--that's the last thing he remembers upon waking in a coffin buried several feet under ground.

I have never seen a scarier film. Nor have I ever seen one actor carry an entire story by himself. There wasn't a single moment when the viewer is not on the edge of her seat, biting her lip, heart racing.

Writing this well after having seen the film, my heart is still pounding and I can't get the fervent click of Paul's lighter out of my mind.
